URGENCY--We have a CRUCIAL window from 2024--2030 to phase out fossil fuels to half by 2030 and phase them out completely by 2050. We can save millions of people's lives and homes--and protect huge numbers of animals from extinction if we actively advocate to cut fossil fuels in half by 2030. The U.S. and China are the biggest producers of fossil fuels in the world. This is a time for active citizenship with our governments! I am hoping this Treaty will help us advocate together and protect the future for people, wildlife, ecosystems, and all living beings on Earth.
COOPERATION--People all over the world want action to restore our Earth, Peoples, wildlife, ecosystems, and our climate. This agreement is meant to cross borders and help us unite as global citizens to take action when our governments and fossil fuel industries resist taking action to protect us all.
THERE IS GREAT HOPE! Al Gore said at COP28 that as soon as we stop using fossil fuels, the Earth's climate will start cooling down. The remaining carbon in the atmosphere (that traps heat and causes the climate to heat up,) will disappear in 30 years!!!! This means that we don't need to despair! The next generations can have a livable climate. This means phasing out fossil fuels--not just reducing them. The best science says fossil fuels should peak by 2025 and quickly reduce by 2030. That means no new oil, gas, or coal, (including "LNG" liquified natural gas). Fossil fuels are oil, coal, and gas. ACTION & AGREEMENT--This Treaty agreement offers a MENU of actions we can take as citizens. You can sign on to the things you agree with by checking the box next to it. For some things, there are also actions you can take--like banking with a local bank or credit union that doesn't loan to fossil fuels or corporations that deforest. Or like signing a citizen's Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. For others if you check the box, you are simply agreeing that a particular change is needed.
LEARN--This is also an educational tool. It explains the basic parts of 10 main aspects of addressing climate change. It explains the words that people are using about climate change.
ADVOCACY--Responses will be added up for each item continuously in real time on our site. It will be available for people to see. So this information can be used by everyday people and organizations working for positive change in our communities and with our local and national governments. Responses for items will be grouped. Individual responses will not be public.
UNITED ACTION! Many people of different backgrounds, beliefs, worldviews, faiths, spiritualities, and diversities all over the world already care deeply about these issues and want to take action to heal our Earth.

I Will Read and Learn More About the 10 Aspects of Climate Change
This Treaty and website is a testament to the incredible work and research done by people all over the world--ordinary people, nonprofit organizations, Indigenous Peoples, local leaders, researchers, scientists, politicians, professionals, grassroots organizations, religious leaders, youth, and more. The information in this website and the items on the Treaty are a synthesis of their work. It is beyond my time and resources to footnote everything on this site, but I have provided links to many organizations--and there are many more out there! This is one place to start. This is my attempt to triage the most urgent actions needed to address climate change by each of us and the world community. My hope is that people will take the time to fill out the Treaty and submit it, so we can document our support for the changes we feel need to happen and show our solidarity with each other--including our diverse and similar needs. I hope people will also take time to read through the 10 aspects of phases of climate change and learn more--because there are many detailed changes that need to happen. Reading one section a week may be a realistic way to read this for busy people. There are many words and phrases being used that are important to understand. This Treaty and the information on it is relevant to different communities differently. It will be adapted and applied differently by different communities and in different countries.
I hope this Treaty can be translated into different languages at some point as well.
